About the Shared Resource Centre Uganda (SRC)
The SRC is an independent, not-for-profit legal entity registered in May 2025 as a company limited by guarantee under the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB). Operational since July 2025, the SRC was co-initiated by Woord en Daad and TUNADO, with a clear pathway to expand its governance and service model to other local and international promoters committed to co-ownership and sustainability.
Driving local leadership through shared services, co-ownership, and sustainable capacity strengthening
The SRC is an innovative localisation mechanism that provides high-quality shared services to Ugandan civil society organisations (CSOs), with a strong focus on efficiency, accountability, and local leadership. Through a co-governed, membership-based structure, the SRC offers integrated support in key technical areas such as:

Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (PMEAL)

Access to shared physical and digital assets (e.g. equipment, facilities)

A strong, collaborative, and self-sustaining civil society in Uganda — capable of leading programmes, managing resources, and influencing policy without reliance on Northern intermediaries.

To empower Ugandan CSOs through shared governance, technical services, and pooled resources that reduce fragmentation, build institutional capacity, and accelerate systemic change.

Our approach
The SRC is structured as a social enterprise, with a locally managed team and governance framework. Member organisations are not just service recipients — they are strategic co-owners who participate in steering the direction and priorities of the Centre.
This model responds to the growing demand for locally led development and addresses common operational gaps in the sector: donor compliance burdens, fragmented systems, underfunded back-office functions, and limited voice in national platforms. By pooling resources and sharing capacity, the SRC lowers barriers and increases impact.

Ugandan civil society is vibrant and mission-driven, yet many organisations operate in isolation, duplicating efforts, competing for limited resources, and navigating complex donor requirements. The SRC offers a collective solution: a trusted hub where partners access essential services, strengthen institutional foundations, and participate in a shared journey towards localisation.
