Empowering refugees and host communities in Uganda through local development and sustainable livelihoods

Uganda is a land of hope for millions who’ve fled their homes, a refuge offering safety yet revealing new challenges. The people here—both refugees and host community members—are navigating the complexities of starting over, finding work, and accessing basic services amidst swelling populations and scarce resources. Many young people dream of building a future, but without access to education or vocational training, these aspirations too often fade into hardship.

In this landscape, LEAD Uganda stands as a bridge to brighter possibilities. With funding from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, our dedicated local partners, with the support of Woord en Daad, have crafted a programme that goes beyond short-term aid. LEAD equips individuals with the skills and resources to thrive independently. Through targeted education and vocational training, the programme opens doors that might otherwise remain closed, transforming challenges into opportunities. Empowered by this support, people from both refugee and host communities are gaining the tools to contribute to a shared economy, turning dreams into tangible achievements.

The impact ripples outward: resilient individuals create resilient communities. LEAD’s work in policy advocacy addresses root issues, seeking to align local frameworks with the needs of both refugees and their hosts, setting the foundation for lasting change.

We invite you to be part of this journey—support LEAD Uganda and help our partners and the communities they serve rewrite the future for those who need it most.
